July House Project Notes

Electrical

While the garage framing was going on the electrician started work on the house electric, phone and data cables.

The pile of cable to be installed looks rather impressive.

Electric and Data Cable

Stringing electric wire and placing boxes is going along well.

The phone and data cable looks like a massive rats nest where it terminates inthe utility room. But it will look neater once the punch down blocks are installed and things cabled up correctly. We have run all cables "home run" style so each run is a separate line for maximum flexibilty later.

Plumbing

We are completely replacing all the plumbing in the original house. Here at the start it look like we have far too many parts.

The utility room and downstairs bathroom.

The kitchen sink downstairs from the utility room and from the sink side.

The Upstairs bath represents a challenge as we have to fit all the various pipes within the walls.

Pipes are held in clamps to prevent excessive movement.

Propane Tank

We use propane for the fuel for the stove and to run the radiant floor heat boiler and provide domestic hot water. The tank used to be next to the house, in the location where the edge of the garage is now. We've moved it back behind a tree and on a concrete pad for safety and good access in the winter.

Here is the view from the top of the orchard looking south towards the house. You can barely see it through the trees.
