Apple Scion Wood for Grafting

Our old original orchard was planted in the spring of 1905. The original stock was purchased from Stark Brothers nursery. We have identified two types of apples in the orchard. First and most numerous, an old style Jonathan apple. Our Jonathan trees produce smaller fruits that have a distinctive taste. They are excellent for cider making and are also a good cooking and eating apple. We have also identified a few Red Delicious trees. These also produce smaller fruits with a more blue or mottled skin compared to the apples sold as Delicious now. They have a distinctive taste and are sweeter than our Jonathans.

We are offering scions for people to do their own grafting of these old types. We sell pencil diameter scions about 1 foot long at 4 for $1.00 plus shipping. We collect scions in the winter and ship until the first of March.
